Here's a number that should annoy you: the same 1 Gbps fibre line in Malta can cost anywhere from €39.95 to €41.99 a month depending on the provider — and depending on the promo, your first six months might be free or might cost you full price. Yet until now there was no way to see all of it in one place. Every operator's site shows its own offers, in its own format, with its own asterisks.
That's the gap Qabbel.mt closes. Qabbel is Maltese for "compare", and that's the whole product: every residential broadband, mobile and TV plan on the island, side by side, updated against the providers' own pages.
Full disclosure: Qabbel.mt is a LimitBreakIT project — we built it, we run it. That's exactly why we can tell you how it works under the hood.
#The promo trap: why "€13.49/month" isn't €13.49
Maltese operators lean heavily on first-year discounts. Epic's fibre plans are 50% off for twelve months. Melita gives you three to six months free. GO throws six months of Giga in. These are genuinely good deals — but they make plans impossible to compare on the sticker price.
Qabbel solves this with one number: true monthly cost — the average you'll actually pay per month across the whole contract, promos and setup fees included. A €13.49 headline that becomes €26.99 after month twelve works out around €20 a month over a 24-month term. Once every plan is reduced to that one honest figure, the comparison takes seconds instead of an afternoon of tab-switching.
#What you can compare today
| Category | What's inside |
|---|---|
| Home internet | Every GO, Melita and Epic fibre/cable tier, wireless plug-and-play options, and Starlink's three Malta residential plans |
| Mobile | All pay-monthly plans from the three networks, plus travel eSIMs for visitors |
| TV | Melita NexTV, GO TV and Epic TV, by channels and true cost |
| Car insurance | One enquiry form that reaches Malta's established insurers |
Two things worth calling out. First, Starlink officially serves Malta — from €35 a month with no contract — and almost nobody realises it's now a real alternative for farmhouses, boats and anywhere the fixed networks underdeliver. Second, every plan card shows the date its price was last verified, so you know exactly how fresh the data is.
#Impartiality is the entire point
A comparison site in a market where everyone knows everyone lives or dies on trust, so the rules are written into the code: results are ranked only by the criterion you choose — price, speed or data. Providers cannot buy a position. If a placement is ever sponsored, it carries a visible label and stays exactly where the ranking puts it. The how-we-make-money page spells out the referral model in plain language.
#Try it before your next renewal
The single best time to check Qabbel is the month before any contract renews — that's when switching (or negotiating with your current provider using a competitor's number) saves the most. It takes about a minute:
- Open qabbel.mt and pick a category.
- Sort by true monthly cost.
- Check what your current provider's competitors would charge you.
- Switch, or use the number to haggle. Either way you win.
